Green Bay Crunch Time

The Pack Attack is Back

It’s that time of the year again to break out the crystal ball, the NFL season is right around the corner. In Green Bay, the patience of Packers’ fans is running thin due to being bounced from the playoffs by the rival San Francisco 49ers in back-to-back years. The Packer organization knows that they have their work cut out for them, and they cannot afford a duplicate season like last years so for now you will be able to find cheap Green Bay Packers tickets online.

The Packers must first worry about building their own roster and adding depth to key positions, before they can start looking around the league to see what everyone else is doing. After winning the division in the 2014 season with an 8-7-1 record, they have to know that just matching last year’s performance will not be enough. The Packers did add some key depth to their defensive line by adding ex-Bear, Julius Peppers. This will be Peppers’ first year playing in a 3-4 defensive scheme, and the Packers will need him to regain his dominance form he once flashed just a few short seasons ago. The Packers hope that by teaming him up with Clay Matthews, it will cause enough havoc to disrupt the opposing team’s offense. Disrupting the opposing team is not something the Packers defense did enough last year, they finished in the bottom third in the league in passing yards allowed and rushing yards allowed.

On the other side of the ball, the key to success is keeping #12 in an upright position. Aaron Rodgers missed half the season last year with a broken collarbone, and the Packers struggled mightily to adjust. Green Bay just does not have the depth or the experience at back-up quarterback to keep the ship afloat if their All-Pro goes down again.

With all that being said, my crystal ball shows the Packers having a bounce back year. After shoring up some weaknesses on the offensive line, I’m predicting the Packers are going to go 12-4 this year. And that includes an upset win on the opening Thursday night game in Seattle. Outside of the Bears, the NFC North is not going to test the Packers much this year. Detroit will end up being Detroit, and self-implode in big games, and the Vikings have been in a downward spiral for the last few years with no end in sight. The Packers have to remember one key thing if they want to better last year’s performance, keep Rodgers healthy.

Kerrigan Demands Respect on the Field

Washington Redskins: Players to Watch for the 2014 Season

The Washington Redskins, name controversy aside, have a strong, talented roster, and the team is looking to have a great upcoming season. Get your Washington Redskins tickets and watch out for these outstanding Skins players.

Robert Griffin III: Griffin, number 10, is relatively new to the Redskins. Drafted as the number two pick in 2012, he quickly became a star quarterback, winning the 2012 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award. He led the Redskins to finish the 2012 season on a seven-game winning streak, and carried them to the playoffs for the first time since 2007. The 2013 season, however, saw Griffin perform below expectations, and he failed to play the last three games of the season due to injuries. Griffin is injury prone, but he has a lot of potential to perform well this season.

Ryan Kerrigan: Kerrigan, number 91, was drafted in 2011 as the sixteenth pick. As an outside linebacker, he started in all sixteen games in the 2011 season and boasted 63 tackles. Kerrigan also had a stellar 2012 season, intercepting a pass and scoring a touchdown against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 5. After starting every game in the 2013 season, he underwent surgery for a torn lateral meniscus. If Griffin is completely recovered from surgery, he should again return to a great season.

Pierre Garcon: Garcon, number 88, started with the Washington Redskins as a wide receiver in 2012 after three years with the Indianapolis Colts. His 2012 season was plagued with foot injuries, but during the first half of the season, he still recorded a respectable 109 yards with four receptions and one touchdown. Griffin ended an excellent 2013 season with a career high 1,346 yards, and he broke the Redskins’ franchise record of season receptions with 113.

Alfred Morris: Morris, number 46, was selected by the Redskins in the sixth round of the 2012 draft. As a running back, he had a fantastic rookie year, rushing 1,613 yards for the season (the third-highest ever in a rookie year). He was named Rookie of the Week twice by the NFL. Morris’ 2013 season still saw moderate success. His 1,275 yards rushed ranked fourth in the NFL for the season, and he was selected for the 2014 Pro Bowl. Morris has the potential to be a great asset to the Redskins this upcoming season.

DeSean Jackson: Jackson, number 1, is new to the Redskins this year, after being released from the Philadelphia Eagles. As a wide receiver for the Eagles, he played in the Pro Bowl three times. He boasts receiving yards of 1,167, 1,056, and 1,332 for the 2009, 2010, and 2013 seasons, respectively. He struggled with injuries and sportsmanship issues in 2011 and 2012, but he had a great 2013 season and will hopefully continue his success with the Redskins this upcoming season.

FedEx Field

One of the largest creations of man: FedEx Field

The Washington Redskins is a very popular team all across the United States so getting Redskins tickets is difficult. They are a professional American football team found in Washington, D.C belonging to both the National Football league and National Football conference. Their home stadium is found in Landover, Maryland known as the FedEx Field. The colossal stadium initially called the Jack Kent Cooke Stadium has the capacity to hold slightly over 91,000 people in their seats and is undeniably the biggest venue in the NFL today. Unlike other many stadiums which are usually owned either by cities or companies, FedEx Field is owned by Daniel Snyder who is not only the owner of the Washington Redskins, but also the chairman of the board of the Six Flags.

Because of the enormous size of the stadium and its strategic location where there isn’t a lot of traffic, there exits an extra exit found on the Capital beltway. The exit way is usually opened during events. Fans love it because parking fees near the stadium are always very high and it is only a few strides away from public transportation stations.

The Robert. F. Kennedy Memorial stadium found also in Washington, D.C was initially the home field for the Washington Redskins. After moving to the FedEx Field, fans attendance drastically increased and continues to be on the rise. However, creation of this gigantic structure did not come cheap, an investment of over $250 million was made during construction. Apart from football, the stadium has played host to a number of reputable soccer events such as the FIFA Women’s World Cup in 1999 and a number of international friendly matches.

The stadium was created to fit as many fans as possible while providing everyone with the best view available. There are 5 seating levels with each ranked according to its charges. For instance, the most affordable tickets are for the Pete Rozelle Upper Level while the Joe Gibbs level is characterized by the most expensive seats. Many people feel the old stadium was much better than the FedEx Field and there are rumors that Daniel Snyder is planning to build another sports arena in the heart of the city to serve as a replacement.

The stadium is opened 2 hours before any game is played. Fans with suite seats or having club level can access live performances by different bands and entertainment events that take place before every game. The ever-growing popularity of the Washington Redskins combined with the special pre-game events have made the attendance in the stadium to skyrocket, breaking all previous records.

2014 NFL Season

Steelers: Stealing the 2014 Season

Coming off an 8-8 season in 2013, the Pittsburgh Steelers are looking to improve this next season. In fact, they have plenty to look forward to with the signing of running back LeGarrette Blount this past March so get your cheap Steelers tickets while you can. An experienced team with plenty of talent will provide the Steelers with much optimism. In fact, they are not the only ones who are optimistic about their chances – the odds makers in Las Vegas predict that the team will go 10-6 in the 2014 regular season and win the AFC North Division. Such a bold prediction is not unfounded. After all, Pittsburgh has the 8th easiest schedule for the upcoming season, and healthy players such as center Maurkice Pouncey are set to return for the Steelers. This provides consistency for a team that has dealt with a plethora of injuries the past few seasons.

Look for the Steelers to show off their talent at home against rookie Johnny Manziel and the Cleveland Browns in Week 1. Pittsburgh has plenty of reasons to believe that they will win this game. First, debuting in one of the loudest stadium in the NFL might rattle some nerves for NFL newcomer Manziel, perhaps creating problems for the Browns’ offense. That may help the experienced team led by veteran Ben Roethlisberger to come out with the victory. After that, the next big victory for the Pittsburgh Steelers should come against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 4. The Buccaneers finished last season with a 4-12 record, and although they are expected to be better this year, look for the Pittsburgh Steelers to overpower Tampa Bay in front of another noisy home crowd.

One game the Steelers might struggle with is in Week 10 at the New York Jets. Last season, the Jets surpassed expectations and ended up 8-8, just like the Steelers. This upcoming season will see the Jets add new talent, such as Michael Vick, to the roster. Many analysts expect the Jets to be a very strong team in 2014, and that will likely hurt the Pittsburgh Steelers in this game.

However, the Steelers can expect a very successful season overall and perhaps make a run in the playoffs. They have the tools necessary to do so – a veteran roster, a relatively easy schedule, and plenty of talent. Each game will provide the stage for the team to return to its once dominant position atop the NFL, and fans can expect the team to try their best.

Elder Price Goes Nuts!

Best Songs from Book of Mormon

The Book of Mormon musical can easily be considered to be anything from very funny to crude and tasteless; it just depends on which side of the spectrum your sense of humour lies so find Book of Mormon discount tickets online. But be it a bad joke or satire with pure intentions, I am sure that most people can agree that the musical numbers were absolutely hilarious. The songs in the musical are parodies of other Broadway songs and are satirized attempts at addressing different vices. Of all the songs, I have two absolute favorites in the book of Mormon: You and Me But Mostly Me, and Hasa Diga Eebowai.

You and me (but mostly me) is a duet by Elder Price and Elder Cunningham. Other than being a very thematic and beautiful duet, it clearly brings out the egotistical preoccupation with self, personal preferences, aspirations and needs of Price’s character. I believe that this could actually be satirization of the same qualities in Mormonism as having a few narcissistic types. The foundation of the Mormon’s faith is based on being elite, special, and God’s chosen people. The song shows exactly how Elder Price sees himself as valiant, successful, exclusive and a light or savior to the world. Other than that, it also parodies defying gravity by wicked: a personal favorite and a song which holds the same line of sentiments as the musical parody.

The song brings out a clear connect of contemporary theological debate that in the same way the writer of the Book of Mormon, Joseph Smith believed he was called of God to preach repentance to a sinful world and assume the role of prophet is the aspiration of Elder Price and by extension, most Mormons. You and Me but Mostly Me satirizes his radical self-esteem and believe he was called by God to ‘set the world free’ and ‘change the world forever’. For me this song sums the musical up as something that puts faith in perspective while managing to be hilarious at the same time.

On to the next one, Hasa Diga Eebowai is a spin off of Lion King’s Hakuna Matata. It is very catchy and has a way of staying in your head for an entire week. I am not quite sure whether the words exist in any dialect but it sure makes for a good song. The references about forgetting all problems and the sheer number of ridiculous problems in the song itself make it funnier and funnier with each line. Seeing as it is not a song to be taken seriously, it only makes it to my short list of best songs just because it’s catchy.
